Coastal Wilderness Series

This series of work came to light whilst walking and cold water swimming along Devon and Cornwall's beaches.

I explored the rugged coastline where you are truly at the mercy of the tides. Focusing on the ever-changing mood and atmosphere of the coast, my work views the locations in a multi-angle approach both admiring its scale and splendour, but also celebrating its intricate details and beauty up-close.

The works colours, textures and forms embody the feeling and mood of being by the sea, reflecting the season and weather of the scene. A playful, explorative approach was taken in the making process with a level of uncertainty and chance mirroring the unpredictable nature of the coast. Scrap cardboard, wax, recycled materials and collage paper were used as printing plates to create organic shapes echoing the structurers and forms found along our beautiful coastline.
